DVDs, cron-ologically speaking
July 22, 2009 |
It’s been a big week - sort of like Christmas morning except with less time to play, at least right now! The flat panel for the new Family Room arrived Monday and did a great job of showing Wallace and Gromit in 1080p for a little bit. The same shipment contained the KVM extenders for the backup server that we’ll hookup once the server room is moved. We’ve also made huge progress in the Library Management Project using ResourceMate3.0 . The Library Team has begun building the catalogue from scans of the book ISBN bar codes through the Library of Congress.
The potential projects for this Thursday are:
- script the generation of DVDs from the mpeg video we currently generate using DVDauthor
- rip the audio from said mpeg video instead of the current process of a separate encoding the audio
- run 3 network drops to the Contemporary Service Console (pull already present in the ceiling)
- test the use of wmi through the nod32 firewall on the PCs
- Any desktop maintenance that should’ve been done last week that should not be deferred until 13 August.
We can decide what to do once we know what we have for human resources. Needless to say there’ll be donuts and coffee and conversation. Carl was away last week at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships, so we’ll need to catch up on that as well as the Library Project and the latest schedule for the CEWing. Then there’s the idea that FearlessLeader and I hatched for a road trip to Colorado Springs next May…
