Reduce scope; Increase joy

March 17, 2009 |

Last Thursday was a large blessing for me. Many hours of conversation about what we’re doing, how we’re doing it and what’s in the way. I think Byron was a little overwhelmed, but I was too so… The result is that while there are lots of physical things to work on, we’re going to limit them until we have the new building in the mix. Until then we’ll focus on streamlining and rationalizing our desktop support processes and our server processes, including documentation. The rest will have to wait as we try to act in The Lord’s timing.

So this Thursday we have an agenda of

  • ThirdThursday Desktop scrum, including
    • correcting Pastor Greg’s Word problem
    • seeing if we can make Guitar Praise work on the Contemporary Console
  • finishing up the backlog of DVD duplication
  • pulling a network cable to connect the backup server to the almost-ready gigabit server backbone
  • making a list of services that should be automated and a pattern for the scripts
  • perhaps
    • playing with some VLC scripts to automate video conversion
    • generating the basic data from /etc/* for ldap

and working hard at not coming up with new ideas for the to-do list…
