It’s About The Little Things
November 27, 2007 |
We have a bunch of items to work on in the gym:
- fix the wheelie bin that holds input cables
- find the blue bin for output cables
- hang some hooks inside the console closet
- wire up one of the symetrix equalizers
- reinstall the nVidia drivers on the computer
- start on an unmanned gym sound howto
We have a few items for the Sanctuary:
- route audio feeds for gym and FM transmitter through the audio DA
- work towards a wireless mic to use as a “wild” source (background audio)
- log the channel frequencies for wireless microphones
We have some server jobs:
- installing drives in sleds and sleds in the data server
- installing Ubuntu Server (7.10) on app and sys servers
- rescuing the backup server configuration files
- setting up Joseph the Amazing Colour Printer to scan and store the results to the public folder on data.
I’d like us to commit to documenting more of how we set things up in the form of html howtos so we’ll talk about how to structure that as well. David, would you consider being our scribe in this venture?
I can’t imagine that we’ll get this all done in one night (although I’m open to the possibility!), so think of this as a list to work from until Christmas.
As encouragement for the things we do, I have received several excited “thank-you”s for installing the cable drop by the childrens’ check-in. Volunteers are there for all of Sunday morning with little to do between rushes. The option of watching and hearing the service has been exciting for those people and it was easy for us to do only because we have taken the time to lay in infrastructure with an eye to being flexible about what we can do with it.

Speaking of the children’s check in computer, maybe you want to add a flat panel TV/monitor to your budget?
There are 2 sermons to be deleted from the server.
