The Basic Idea

As BSBC starts to look at providing more of it’s people with computer-based tools it will be paramount that we think about how to support them (people using technology) in a way that minimizes the effort required. Directory Services is a start. In our context we’ll use the openLDAP project. We’ll take the services are currently use (e.g. Windows shares through Samba, Unix login, email address books, internet messaging) and migrate them. With this as a base we’ll begin looking at whether it makes sense to expand it to managing physical assets, and spaces. Who knows…
