Kids Party Games

One of the most important elements of any child’s birthday party is the time spent doing party games. If planned correctly, they can make great memories for the birthday child and their guests.  If not, they can be a world of trouble. Don’t give up! A little forethought and common sense are all that’s necessary to make your party games a smashing hit!

Follow these easy steps to playing kids party games:

1. Get together at least five to nine party games then adjust the number according to your party timeframe. Remember it’s better to have too many activities planned than too few.

2. Go through each game to work out any glitches that come up. The birthday child will be only too happy to help with doing this and enjoy getting a sneak preview of the party planning in the process!

3. Enlist other grown ups as helpers so the party games will run smoothly and stress-free. You can promise to help them out when their child’s birthday comes around!

4. Ages and other factors about your party guests should be taken into consideration when choosing your party games. A four year old won’t be able to play charades, but he can usually pop a balloon with his rear to get the prize!

5. Timing is important! Start your party with an easy game while guests are arriving and finidh with a nice calm game to help kids gear down from all the party fun.

6. Gather stuff you’ll need for each game in advance and put them in the chosen kid-safe location. Pin the Tail on the Donkey isn’t the same when you can’t find the blindfold!

7. Arbitrate - adult leaders should know the rules of each game and gently make the kids stick to them. Kids have a strong sense of what’s right and will look to the adults to keep everyone playing by the same rules.

8. Make sure each child gets a prize for his or her participation in the games so that everyone feels like a winner. Wrapped candy, stickers, erasers, pencils, coins, certificates and other small tokens make great prize give-aways.

9. Encouragement and enthusiasm will keep your guests motivated and happy. For a fun spin, switch the rules of the game and give a prize not only to the winner, but to the loser, saying it was the secret plan all along.

10. Success! Congratulate yourself on a job well done! When your worn out party guests go home to their parents, this is the part they’ll remember the most!

Great Games can be achieved for your party if you are prepared for them.
