My dream and vision for Ci-Fi

My dream is slowly coming true.  In April 2006, I attended a fantastic workshop through the NB Film Co-Op, hosted by Chris Campbell. Chris has made many appearances on the webshow CommandN discussing many web applications and tips regarding film creation.

Chris really opened my eyes to this ever growing “blogosphere” which is a fascinating subculture which is growing every minute.  Websites like digg.com, youtube.com, technorati.com and myspace.com have perpetuated this movement of bloggers becoming more and more popular depending on content and conversations come out of each posting.

I am hoping that Ci-Fi will encourage a sub-blogosphere to form within Fredericton and the Maritimes.  Our first project involves bands, musicians and singers to unite and collaborate their content to create remixed music out of loops, samples and individual tracks that have been uploaded to Fredericton Media Commons.  This library of content will be available to users who create a username and password to become members.  We only ask users to provide their email and other info will be optional.

Ci-Fi (Civic Fidelity) will be for artists of all types.  At first we will be focusing on the musicians, but after we add video capabilities to the site, the possibilities will be endless.  Hopefully people will be encouraged to host their own radioshows via odeo.com and video webshows on youtube.com or revver.com.  This will be a great asset to the local artisan community.
