Cycle of Green
The last 2 days have inspired me to play with video editing software and dig into my past. Last night at the ECMA show, I saw my favorite high school teacher of all time Mr. Hull and wanted to go say hi, but alas I was a wee bit tipsy and thought it would be inappropriate to tell him that he was one of the most inspiring teachers I’ve ever had. Today I attended a workshop hosted by Andrea Dorfman who is a well established experimental film maker. Listening to her really inspired me to get back into editing video that I shot this summer at the woodlot with my good friend Josh. I wanted to do something creative with the footage but didn’t really know how to go about it, so I decided that I would read a poem that I wrote 11 years ago which I got a 10 / 10 mark from Mr. Hull in Creative Writing class. It’s odd reading my thoughts from high school before I really gave a damn about anything.
Cycle of Green
Green was the earth
Green grass grew in fields
Green trees blew softly
In the light breeze
A faint rainbow glows
Peacefully through the mist
Warm oceans remain calm
Green - blue water is clear
Rain falls, man appears
Slowly killing the earth
Living as parasites do their host
Plant life green of jealousy
Attention drawn to large cities
Technology rules
Plant life is listless
Oceans now polluted
Kills remaining life
War breaks, ending the earth
The bomb is dropped
Humanity now glows green
Eventually extinct
A world blackened by warfare
Green fades to black
Anger ends all life
The only green on earth
Gleams in the Aurora Borealis
