The First Third Tuesdays meeting in Fredericton Evar!
Believe it or not, Fredericton is full of bloggers and new media fans! I attended a very informative and exciting meeting last night at the Back 9. The meeting was organized by Dave Alston of Radian6 and Lisa Rousseau who is the COO of Walking Spree which
focuses on providing a healthy lifestyle pedometer program to individuals as well as schools and corporations that is simple, economical, and more convenient than mainstream health clubs or diet plans.
Jason Falls was the guest speaker of honor who basically walked off of an airplane and into the meeting! Jason who writes about social media and social online communities on his blog, pushed a charismatic message to all of us saying that by merely showing up to this meeting showed that we were indeed some of the top “wave makers” of Fredericton. The truth is, he’s probably right considering that Lisa contacted me through Twitter and my blog and most of us understood all of Jason’s internet vocab. I was on no email list, i didn’t sign up, and i certainly wasn’t at the right place at the right time. Greg won a book called Marketing to the Social Web which was then donated to me for my reading pleasure. People showed up from Woodstock, Sackville and even Halifax for this small meeting of about 30 or so uber geeks!
I met some really interesting people at this meeting which was really much needed for me. I’m so glad that I was a part of the first of hopefully many to come!
